We begin with a film that came after the other ones we will cover yet there’s a reason we chose it to be first. Conceived in love but born into chaos, The Phantom of the Opera (1925) and (1929) was released twice. A silent film about opera? Yeah, there’s some problems with this one. But it’s an important film more than a good one to which we owe a lot more gratitude than just the 1986 musical .
