Episode 289

289 - Akira (1988) - Testuo the Blob Man

We finish Animation April with a body horror classic. Akira had an impact, the same way an asteroid does. It took anime to a level that the rest of the world was unable to just push into “niche” animation, or “foreign cartoons” anymore. we talked a lot about Satoshi Kon this month, and this is where his story truly began cause he was HEAVILY influenced by the works of the creator of this manga, Katsuhiro Otomo.
